Passover Collection
My seder plate won third place in a competition at the Jewish Museum of South Florida and is now in their permanent collection. The orange in the center symbolizes those who have been historically excluded, and is an add-on from modern times. As the story goes, an Orthodox rabbi once remarked that "a woman belongs on the pulpit like an orange belongs on a seder plate." People started adding oranges to their seder plates after this! It stands to reason that Floridians would love a seder plate with a spot for an orange! The beet is a vegetarian analog for the traditional lamb bone.
This matza plate tells the Passover story in images.
