I enjoy working with transparent watercolor on paper. Surrendering to the unpredictable flow of paint is a metaphor for surrendering to the flow of life.
My work communicates layers of meaning similar to those perceived through living a thoughtful life. What we encounter is perhaps not as solid and immutable as we may believe. It's layered with meaning in the same way as a painting’s layers of color. We are a beautiful mash-up of physicality and energy, and so is everything in our world.
The hamsa symbol (hand with two thumbs) is found in both Arab and Jewish cultures, pre-dating both. At this time of divisiveness, focusing on this shared image feels both hopeful and healing.
